Olivia Jaques, b. 1986 in Linz (AT), lives and works in Vienna (AT)
In her work she explores discursive, collective, processual, participatory and experimental formats, as well as theoretical and curatorial issues concerning artistic practice in non-institutional frameworks. With the platform Performatorium, which she founded with Marlies Surtmann, Olivia Jaques promotes discussion and sharing views on contemporary artistic practice in the field of performance.
Olivia Jaques studied visual and media art at the Universität für angewandte Kunst, Vienna, and at the Bauhaus-Universität, Weimar. She was also trained in the Feldenkrais method. In 2014-2019 she taught at the Hochschule der Künste, Zurich. Since 2016 she has also worked at artasfoundation, a Swiss foundation for art in conflict regions. She is a member of the AG Performative Archive (PANCH), in which framework she organized—together with Margarit von Büren, Pascale Grau, Tabea Lurk, Valerian Maly and Julia Wolf—a series of discursive events on the archiving of ephemeral art (2017-2019).
