Ralph Tharayil, b*1986 in Switzerland, works in Berlin and Basel (CH).

Ralph is a writer whose prose, poetry and audio plays revolve around ideas of identity as well as the epistemes of power and technology.
As a performer he is currently working on a dance piece which explores questions of cultural representation, traded knowledge and ways of self-empowerment through movement. 
 
For PARTOUT Ralph will take the role of an on-site mediator to writer and interlocutor Indranjan Banerjee based in Delhi (IN). Together they will be exploring acts of transmission through text and an array of different media.
 
Ralph Tharayil was invited by Indranjan Banerjee to Acts of Transmission as a participant of the Live Art Workshop at Partout and is supported by Pro Helvetia New Delhi.

Acts of Transmission – an intercontinental writing piece

In the context of the international performance art platform PARTOUT, writers Indranjan Banerjee (New Delhi) and Ralph Tharayil (Berlin/Lausanne/Basel) will start a multimedial conversation in digital space on the topic of transmission – true to the platform’s motto Acts of Transmission.

This is by no means just a theoretical examination of the concept of transmission in the technical sense, but aims at incorporating the linguistic and anthropological dimensions of post-digital communication in the context of the performances, workshops and discussions taking place during PARTOUT. This is an invitation to tune into the nuances of translation and transposition within the act of transmission.

Banerjee’s and Tharayil’s conversation will take form in a telegram chat group, inviting artists and curators from PARTOUT as well as the audience to join the group and to directly witness and discover how collaborative and textual strategies between the two writers come about.
