Martina Morger, b. 1989 in Vaduz (LI), lives and works in Balzers (LI)
Martina Morger studied fine arts in Zurich, Vienna and Glasgow and works mainly as a visual performance artist. She has participated in exhibitions at the Kunstmuseum Appenzell, Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein, Liste Art Fair Basel, Scottish National Galleries and the 58th Venice Biennale. Martina Morger is founder and co-curator of the international performance art festival stereoskop_. In spring 2020 she was Artist in Residence at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris.
Martina Morger is a performance artist who works with multimedia. She reflects on femininity as a means and claims space as a political body. The investigation of individual freedom in relation to technology is a major concern of hers. Her practice is inspired by cyberfeminism and care. Her work is primarily concerned with the position of women in society, but also with queerness in relation to cybernetic hybridization. She explores female and queer voices - or their absence - domesticity, repetitive actions and invisible work. She works primarily with performance and enjoys exploring the boundaries with other media. Her embodiment of different people addresses the fluidum and its possible implications in society.
