Katy Baird

Katy Baird, b. 1977 in Glasgow (GB), lives and works in Hastings (GB)
Katy Baird's works involve class, gender and sexuality and may last between four minutes and four hours. Depending on the surroundings and space, her work can take the form of theatre, cabaret, film, installation, drag or participatory performance. Katy Baird is interested in mixed genres, contexts and publics, and adjusts her works and their rules to the venues in which they take place.
Her latest stage solo “Workshy”, a performance about work and what we do for money, toured internationally in over 30 cities. Since 2016 Katy has been artist in residence at the queer nightclub Knickerbocker in London.
Katy Baird is a performance artist, radical activist, co-founder of the Monkey United Freedom Force collective, curator of the Steakhouse Live Festivals, staff member of the LADA Live Art Development Agency (2012-2017) and, since 2018, artist director of the Home Live Art Festivals in Hastings. Her solo works appeared at famous live art festivals, such as the SPILL International Festival of Performance, as well as at squat-parties, raves and in underground clubs throughout Great Britain.
