Nia Pushkarova, b. 1970 in Sofia (BG), lives and works in Sofia (BG)
In her work, Pushkarova deals with feminist, localist and geopolitical issues, using a conceptual and politically oriented practice that she combines with autobiographical and poetic moments.
Nia Pushkarova is a multimedia artist and curator. She earned a diploma in the visual arts at the University of Reading (UK) in 1995 and was subsequently awarded a prize from Kodak. She founded and directed the NGO IME and is in charge of the organization of the Water Tower Art Fest in Sofia, Bulgaria. Pushkarova has been a member of the AIM—Artist Initiative Network—since 2014 and is co-founder and member of the Bulgarian Association of Festivals. She is internationally active as an artist and has organized, among other events, the Nakanojo Biennale, Japan (2017), the EFFE Festival Academy (2016) , the Studio for Young Festival Managers, Chiang (2016), Parabiosis 3, "Communication and Coexistence", Chongqing, China, and "Raya En El Agua", oahuila, Mexico.
